How long after regripping can you play?

You’ve fitted the new grips. Now you want to hit them. Fair enough. But finishing the job and being ready for the range aren’t necessarily the same time.

Follow the drying time for your grip and installation products. Golf Pride recommends at least four hours after regripping. Brampton gives a 20-minute ready-for-play time for HF-100 when the correct amount is applied according to its instructions. That shorter figure is conditional, not a rule for every regrip.

Why do the answers vary?

Someone online says twenty minutes. Someone else says overnight. Before borrowing either answer, find out what they used.

A comment about a different solvent or installation method doesn’t tell you when your clubs are ready. This guide covers grips fitted with tape and solution.

What Golf Pride says

Golf Pride’s installation guide recommends leaving the club to dry for at least four hours before playing.

“At least” matters. Four hours is its stated minimum, not an instruction to ignore a longer wait specified by your fitter or installation products.

What about Brampton HF-100?

Brampton’s HF-100 instructions and FAQ say clubs can be ready for play in 20 minutes when the correct amount is used as directed.

Brampton recommends spraying the solution. It warns that pouring can lead to using too much and extend the setting time. So an extra generous splash doesn’t earn you an earlier trip to the range.

Check the directions supplied with your bottle. Our Brampton HF-100 Grip Solution listing identifies the product; the manufacturer’s instructions explain its application.

Which time should you use?

If your grip maker and solution maker give different timings, our advice is to allow the longer period and ask the fitter or manufacturer if you need clarification. Don’t pick the shortest number because it suits your tee time.

If a shop did the work, ask when the clubs will be ready to play. Being ready to collect doesn’t answer that question.

Plan the regrip before you book the bucket

  • Read the grip and solution instructions before starting.
  • Allow time for the installation as well as the stated wait afterwards.
  • Record when you finish each club, especially if you work through the set in batches.
  • If you notice a grip moving on the shaft, stop using that club and have the installation checked.

For a first attempt, leave yourself an evening without a round immediately afterwards. That gives you time to work carefully and follow the instructions without watching the clock.

The range will still be there.
